cargo-sled-1

I’m starting to understand the nature of farming.  At one level, it’s pretty easy — the individual tasks aren’t particularly difficult, at least compared to some of the fancy woodworking I do in my other life.  But there’s an infinite quantity of simple tasks, and I keep finding that I run out of daylight or strength before I’ve made a dent in the tasks. So I’m learning the value anything that shaves off a couple of minutes or a little bit of effort

To this end my new sled makes me inordinately happy!  Bales of hay only weigh about 50 pounds, but after my middle-aged shoulders carry one to the top of the hill, they’re not so interested in repeating the process with water and corn and more hay.  Doing it all in a single, low-friction trip is a revelation.  I’m still mustering the courage to ride the sled on the way back down…
