I moved the sheep for the fourth time — back to my farm — today, expecting that things would go very smoothly, since I’m such an experienced sheep mover now. The universe seems to have caught the whiff of self-congratulatory hubris: Cass had an epic meltdown while loading the trailer, which I met in kind, and then on the second trip back to my place the ability to back up with a trailer completely abandoned me. The consolation prize (not a small one!) was that Chloe stepped up and loaded the trailer on the second trip, the first time she’s been able to do that job with me.
The day’s follies notwithstanding, it’s very nice to have the sheep back home. For the first time, I have them grazing right outside my kitchen window; it’s a great pleasure to watch them while I wash dishes.
