I half-imagine Cass asking “What took you so long??!”  She was born in August 2014, joined the family 7-1/2 weeks later, and only now, during the winter of 2016-17 does she finally have her own sheep.  Of course, the fields are now either icy or deep in snow, and the sheep are in no mood to move around for an inexperienced border collie, so our training sessions are short and infrequent.  But proof that I kept my promise to her is just outside the back door, and it’s a real struggle to get her to come inside.
